Recently a new Romanian law made the access at professorship extremely hard. Under the umbrella of professionalizing science, particularly sociology, and within the accounting culture frame, various “performance” criteria were seated up. Since the sociologists’ community public reaction was rather low, I decided to start a debate concerning the issue. The driven motto was “educate, agitate and organize”, a 70s Western Europe slogan, which I considered that it should be implemented in Romania too. The paper will do a description of the nine days debate, emphasizing its key-moments and participants’ main reactions (31 Romanian scholars have been involved and 77 public/private interventions recorded). The empirical material (50 pages A4 text) was analyzed via Latour’s cartography of controversies.
